Pastor David L. Mason Jr.

 Rev. David Louis Mason Jr. found himself to
continually be placed in positions of leadership since
an early age. Rather than luck or happenstance, he saw
it as preparation and in November of 2024 Rev. Mason
recognized God’s calling to preach the gospel. Rev.
Mason was born and raised on the East side of Detroit.
As the oldest son of seven children he learned early
how to be responsible. Rev. Mason’s large family
background made it easy for him to love people. He has
never been known to meet a stranger and likewise, Rev,
Mason has a friendly, high energy spirit that tends to
draw people to him in thoughtful conversation.

Rev. Mason graduated from Denby High School
and attended Wayne State University where he met and
married Lady Ursula Mason. They have two beautiful and
talented children, David L. Mason III and Aria C.
Mason. Ursula, David and Aria can share with you many
stories of friends through the years that have leaned
on Rev. Mason as a coach, a father figure and a
friend.

Rev. Mason has served the community for over
25 years as a trusted car sales manager and lauded
sales representative, earning people’s unwavering
loyalty and trust in a business that has a reputation
for dishonesty. His earned trust is no accident. Rev.
Mason is a man who lives by his word. He works hard,
plays hard and loves hard.

Throughout the years, the blessing and
spiritual preparation on the life of Rev. Mason has
been evident. Therefore when Rev. Mason shared with
his wife that God had placed a calling on his life to
the ministry all she said was, “I am with you.” Rev.
Mason served faithfully under the tutelage of Pastor
Johnnie Jordan of the Greater Mt. Olive Baptist
Church. The same church in which he was baptised and
married. In June of 2025 Rev. Mason was blessed to
meet the late great Pastor and founder, Rev. Anthony
Lloyd of Our Shepherd Missionary Baptist. Pastor Lloyd
and Rev. Mason shared conversations and fellowship
about doing God’s work. Those times were special to
Rev. Mason and will continue to encourage him in the
Lord going forward.

God’s guidance is the very heart of Rev.
Mason’s pastoral ministry. He is a man with a vision
that is defined by his obedience to God’s call and a
profound love for his people to “shepherd the flock of
God” as instructed in 1 Peter 5:2-3. He is excited to
preach God’s word faithfully and show compassion and
spiritual leadership. Rev. Mason trusts in God to
allow him to lead Our Shepherd Missionary Baptist
Church in the direction that God desires and share
with all who will hear, that God sent his son Jesus
Christ who lived, died, rose and will come again to
save our souls from this world of sin!
