Through signs, God revealed to Rev. Lloyd the vision to organize Our Shepherd MBC with the purpose to win the lost to Christ.

On January 25, 2003, Rev. Lloyd held a meeting at his home with Deacon Jones, Deacon Fountain and Michael Lloyd. They set the foundation of the church.

The first Mission service was held on Sunday, February 9, 2003, at 4:00pm. Pastor O.L. Johnson and the Greater New Family MBC who graciously opened their doors to Our Shepherd.

Rev. Lloyd's sermon subject was 'Silver coin lost in dirt' taken from Luke 15:8-10. Eleven people joined the mission.

Five months later, the Lord blessed Our Shepherd with a church building. Sunday July 6th, 2003, we held our first service at 16001 Plymouth Road. Pastor Mills and New Ebenezer Rev. Lloyd, when God gives you something, it will be a blessing, not a burden. When God sends you on a journey, he will be with you.

The doors of the church were opened and 16 people joined. Pastor Curry installed Rev. Lloyd and encouraged him to just preach the word. Preach when he's up, preach when he's down, preach when he's tired, just preach the word.

Pastor Lloyd was a good shepherd. He fed the flock with powerful messages from the Lord such as, 'Finish what you start', 'Don't wait late to go straight', and 'Don't look back'.

​

In our first year, we passed out fliers in the neighborhood, evangelizing to win souls to Christ. We had our first Woman's Day, distributed Thanksgiving baskets, and had a Christmas program with gifts for everyone. We donated clothes and fed those in the Cass Corridor. We had 44 members, 3 choirs, 4 nurses and 2 mothers.

 

This year as we celebrate our 23rd church anniversary, we are also mourning the transition of our beloved pastor. Our hearts are heavy, but full of joy knowing that God is still on the throne. Our Shepherd has the anointing of God upon it. With God's blessings, the seed that Pastor Lloyd planted here will continue to grow.
